CLUBS & Block of the Month

Celebrate the Season

From The City Stitcher, who gave us Quilted Village! This quilt explores different frayed edge techniques in the geometric quilt blocks as well as applique. There are nine sections, or months, with 2 or 3 blocks worked each month. Machine appliqué is used to sew areas that are not frayed and some paper foundation piecing is included, with the seams frayed & showing on the right side of the quilt. Directions are also given for traditional applique. Finished quilt measures 54.5" x 46.5" and all nine block patterns are included with the complete set, which must be purchased prior to the class. Fabric kits will be available. The class will meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10 am – 12 pm. However, the first class will meet on Saturday, October 23rd (the 4th Saturday) due to a conflict with our fall shop hop. Call now and get yourself signed up! Fall will be here before we know it!

Elegant Garden Hand Appliqué

We are still accepting sign ups for the Elegant Garden block of the month by Laundry Basket Quilts. In this series, you will learn beginning basics of needle turn appliqué, such as making templates, placing the pattern, and a variety of stitches. You will also learn how to make circles the easy way! There are a total of 24 block patterns in this series. You will be required to purchase at least your first 6 patterns prior to starting the class, which are $5 each. The class fee will be $5 per session. Each person will be picking out or bringing her own fabric for this project. We will be running the class as a continuous block of the month, so jump in any time. The class meets once per month on the 4th Tuesday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. A few new people have just joined, so new members will fit right in. Please let us know ASAP if you are interested so we have enough patterns! Please note that Elegant Garden will not be meeting in January due to Evelyn’s husband breaking his ankle. Hopefully he will be up and around and Evelyn will be available to resume in February.

Embroidery Club

This club has been meeting on the second Saturday of each month for over four years, and it’s time for a change! In the past, members met for a short demonstration and show and tell. Beginning in April (4/10/10), the club members will be bringing their embroidery machines with them and working on a project together. The club meeting will last from approximately 10 – noon.  If you would like to receive information on the upcoming project, you must let Rachel know no later than April 3rd so that she can make sure she has the pattern in your format and so she can send you the supply list. The best way to reach her is by e-mail at Rachel-Call@neo.rr.com .  Once she has you on the list, you will automatically be notified of future projects by e-mail, or you can look for the info on our website.

There’s a $20 fee to join the club, but no charge for attending meetings. Anyone who purchases an embroidery machine at Sew Little Time is automatically a member of the club with no membership fee.

Free Block of the Month

Participants in this block of the month program are able to earn instructions and fabric to make 11 quilt squares totally free. That is, provided that they have done their homework and show up to class! The initial block will cost $5. As long as you show up on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 with last month’s block completed, you will receive your next block kit for free. If you do not have your block completed or do not show up for class, you will be charged $5 for that month’s block, no exceptions. The next free block of the month quilt will begin in May. The color choices are ‘brights’ and ‘Kansas Troubles’. Each participant may do a maximum of 2 quilts. Call ASAP to get your name on the list, as we had so many participants this past year that we had to turn people away.

Hooked on Thangles Nite  Starting in March!

Make perfect triangles the fast and easy way with Thangles! Thangles are very easy to use.  You never have to cut triangles or use 7/8" math, or square up every piece.   All you do is cut straight grain strips. We will be starting a new project using Thangles every quarter and will meet on the 3rd Monday of the month. The first project will be the Primo Star, which we will start on Monday, March 15th from 6 – 9 pm. Additional projects will start in June and September. Do the projects you like and skip the others! There is no class fee, but you will have to purchase the pattern and enough Thangles to complete the project.

Beacons of Light

*Beacons of Light - Complete Set of Patterns

Anyone who likes lighthouses will love this machine appliqué Block of the Month series! The finished qyuilt features 12 different lighthouses and measures 50 x 76. The various sized blocks can also be made into pillows or wall hangings. We will have kits available for each block. The complete pattern set is $60, which must be purchased before your first class. Fabric kits for the blocks will be $5 each, due the night of each class. The class will meet the first Monday of each month from 6-9pm, beginning April 5th. This will be a continuous block of the month, so new members may join at any time. Call to get your name on the list if you are interested!

Scrap Therapy!

Scrap Therapy Cutting Workshop

Scrap Therapy!

Scrap Therapy addresses the stash problem by teaching quilters how to turn their mounds of beautiful fabric scraps into usable sizes…which are then ready to create quilts and other projects with custom-designed patterns. Inquire at the shop if you want to see this month’s project. The club meets on the 4th Thursday of the month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  Join any time!

CLASSES,CLASSES, CLASSES

Aunt Philly’s Toothbrush Rug OVAL

We are constantly getting inquiries for another class on Aunt Philly’s. The "Toothbrush Rug" is made from torn strips of fabric and a modified toothbrush. These rugs are quick to make and require no sewing and have a fast tearing technique which shows you how to tear all your fabric in just minutes. Go to www.AuntPhillys.com for more information and to see some of the available patterns. The next class, featuring the Oval Rug, will be on Saturday, September 25th from 10 am – 1 pm. The cost of the class will be $15. The pattern, needle, and fabric are not included.

Send Us Your Photos!

We just LOVE show and tell! Send us a photo of your finished project and we will post it on our website! It is really cool to see a finished rug, purse, quilt, etc. made from one of our patterns or in one of our classes. Seeing different color combinations or interpretations might just inspire somebody else to make one.

Gift Certificates Sew Little Time offers gift certificates in any denomination for that special quilter or embroiderer on your list. These are great for the holidays, birthdays, retirement gifts, or a special thank you.  We also have “Wish Lists” printed up, so don’t leave your family and friends guessing as to what you want! Stop in and make them a list so there won’t be any confusion as to what you mean by rotary cutter, fat quarters, or Thimbleberries book (there are at least a dozen)!
